Service Description

Fight, flight and freeze. Everyone is talking about nervous system responses. But what does it look like when it shows up in your own body? And what can you do to stay in connection with yourself, and remain in connection with others? This four part yoga series will use a nervous system (NS) centered approach to bring body and mind into balance through intentional movement, breath and meditative practices. Each week will focus on a specific NS response (fight, flight, and freeze), beginning with a short discussion, understanding what it looks like when it shows up in your body, and learning ways to balance it through self-regulating practices. We will move through yoga sequences focused on vagus nerve stimulation to reconnect mind and body. We will learn breathing and self-soothing practices to take off the mat and integrate into daily life. We will begin the process of healing our own Nervous Systems which have been dysregulated by life’s stresses and traumas. Each session will include active flow, yin and restorative poses, breathing and meditation. This practice is for all levels of yoga experience and can be adapted to all physical needs. At the end of this four part yoga series, students will be able to recognize how stress responses show up in our own body, learn tools and practices to self-regulate and self-soothe, and understand we have the autonomy to come out of a stress response and remain in engagement with ourselves and with others.
